River breathes a faint chuckle, glancing down at her lap as she nods, accepting his point. This is beyond anything either of them could've imagined, him especially. She wouldn't be surprised by a protective nature, and the more she thinks about it, she rather likes that. She's spent so long looking after herself, relying on no one, that she barely knows what it is to have someone else do that.
